Camera Permission

BarcodeKit requires camera access to scan QR codes and barcodes. The camera is used exclusively for:

Real-time scanning of QR codes and barcodes
Local image processing to decode scanned content

Important: All camera processing happens locally on your device. We do NOT:

Upload or transmit camera images to any server
Store camera images permanently
Share camera data with third parties
Use camera data for any purpose other than scanning

Data Storage

BarcodeKit stores the following data locally on your device:

Scan history (scanned QR codes and barcodes)
Generated barcode history (created QR codes and barcodes)
Downloaded files (when you choose to download content)
Cached product and book information for offline access
App preferences and settings

All data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Third-Party Services

BarcodeKit integrates the following third-party services:

Google AdMob

We display advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device information and advertising identifiers to provide personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.

Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs. This data is anonymized and used solely to improve app performance and stability.

Pixabay API

When using the online image feature for composite images, we fetch images from Pixabay. Your search queries are sent to Pixabay's servers. For more information, see Pixabay's Privacy Policy.

Product & Book Information

When scanning product barcodes or ISBNs, we may query:

OpenFoodFacts API for product information
Google Books API for book information
Open Library API for book information

Only the barcode number is sent to these services to retrieve product details.

Data Security

Your scan history, generated barcodes, and personal data are stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security features. We do not have access to this data.

Children's Privacy

BarcodeKit does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app can be safely used by users of all ages. Advertisements shown are configured to comply with applicable regulations.

Permissions Used

CAMERA: Required for scanning QR codes and barcodes. Images are processed in real-time and not stored permanently.
INTERNET: Used for fetching product/book information, online images, displaying ads, and opening web URLs from scanned codes.
STORAGE: Used for saving generated barcodes and downloaded files to your device.
VIBRATE: Used for haptic feedback when scanning is successful.

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

Clear scan history anytime from the app
Clear generated barcode history from the app
Delete downloaded files from your device
Opt out of personalized ads in your device settings
Uninstall the app to remove all associated data

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
